Celebrating the rare instance of nature in Venice, this pavilion will be situated in the Giardini della Biennale. Placed alongside a chorus of soaring and historic trees, this pavilion with its translucent roof will allow for shadows to dance across the floor at all hours of the day.
Three separate pavilions will be housed underneath one large space frame structure clad with a translucent plastic roofing material. They will indicate types of program and intimacy through their use of material and their ability to let natural light in-- opaque, translucent, and a combination of both. This effect works in tandem with the main purpose of the pavilion, a display pavilion that emphasizes the performance of dance. At night, visitors will see shadows cast from inside of dancers leaping and embracing, the warm glow from inside the pavilion like a handwritten invitation to enter.
